'Burlesque'

Alright...where to start: It was great to see Cher, again...as always! I LOVE that "ole" gal! Such a sweetheart! :-) As always, she did a great job playing her part. She was only in the opening number but it was nice to see her get in a nice get-up even if it was for just a, uh, brief, (get it?! ;-) period! :-)

I'm going to point out a starlet that I'm not quite sure why she wasn't given a bigger role in this movie. She was the chick w/the attitude, always worrying about the threat of 'Ali,' (Christina Aguilera), and that was Kristen Bell. Kristen had one main scene in the entire flick (who had quite the outfit on!) and several small bits thereafter. Can I just say this: I was very disappointed w/the role that Kristen got. It, basically, sucked because I have seen her do a ton better in her other movies! :-(

It was interesting to see just how much of the movie was centered around Christina Aguilera who is already a household name(? or not...) but...I guess that's what happens when you can write 4 songs to the movie! And, yes...Christina was AMAZING no doubt about it! She's got a voice that gives you goose bumps as she begins to amp up!

Here's a sample from the beginning of the movie and, yeah...it's pretty much a one-woman show from there on, except for a few butt shots of the rest of the Burlesque cast, here and there!

Cher also performs one song as a rehearsal piece in a very dim-lit blue-hued floodlight titled, 'You Haven't Seen the Last of Me' that made me HOPE that wasn't going to be fortuitous of some freak accident as happened to Bono years earlier 'cuz I actually went to see Cher only to discover that she is practically side-lined in this movie so that Christina could clear her [already famous] lungs! So...Cher, you did GREAT but...Sweetheart, I want to see MORE of you! You're a Legend that is too young and beloved to be moth-balled, already! :-(

Two of the men that caught my attention were (one of my favorites) Eric Dane (whoo! That smile!) of (also my favorite! lol!)'Grey's Anatomy' who I always enjoy watching/listening to on the show; and...Cam Gigandet who I had not heard of, before. Between these two men and those eyes and smiles...(sigh)

I have often enjoyed seeing Stanley Tucci and found him to be a great fit for this movie as well.

I really enjoyed Christina's performances but would have enjoyed having seen more talent from others as well.

'Question Everything'

Is this anything like 'Showgirls' or 'Striptease'?

Would a 'dirty old man' enjoy it?

What about a clean, God-fearing one?

Has motherhood improved Christina's behavior any?

Funny, Ray! I don't know why but I don't recall seeing 'Showgirls'! Wonder why that was! I happen to LOVE to watch people dance; something that I have not learned, yet! :-(

I did see Striptease ('cuz of Demi) but it's been so long that I can barely (huh! pun NOT intended...but works! lol! :-D remember it! I just remember Demi [as usual] looking amazing! And...I bought the soundtrack so...must go back and see what song it was that had me "mesmerized"! :-) (funny enough, I hear a faint tune turning up in my head, right now! WISH I could remember the song. Will have to do my research, tonight, and post! Stay tuned! :-D

"Would a 'dirty old man' enjoy it?"

A DESPERATE one would! lol! There ain't a boob flash anywhere in the film; only a SEXY butt-check shot of the main character's love interest! :-P

Christina does do a COOL Burlesque-style number where she throws some clothes off and is covered in feather fans and does a couple of turns, hiding what is facing the audience and has an interesting end to it. You would probably enjoy that and...as written about...the QUICK butt shots of the girls dancing at various times. :-)

If you wanna see Christina show off her lungs well, then...you've come to the right movie! That gurl has a HEALTHY set of "pipes" on her! And...you probably won't mind what's sitting on top of the lungs, neither! They put her in some tight-fitting leotard-type stuff, once in awhile. I think you'd enjoy that! :-D

"What about a clean, God-fearing one?"

Sure! As long as he doesn't "lust" after anyone on the film like some SICK stalker or something! lol! ;-)

Let's just say that there is enough to keep a date's eyelids open, in anticipation of the next great shot of what they like best: boobs, butts, and pretty faces! :-)

"Has motherhood improved Christina's behavior any?"

She is ABSOLUTELY a beautiful person - inside and out - in this flick, Ray! NO NASTY grinding or whatever (whether a person likes that or not is another story! lol!) here. It was kept really nice and clean and...educational. Burlesque is NOT necessarily the "smut" that some people take it to be! :-)

You may not have seen Showgirls because someone may have warned you that the language in it is frequently filthy. Elizabeth Berkley from 'Saved By The Bell' didn't have to do a thing like that to prove she's "all grown up" - she could have and should have picked a better one. It trashed her career, such as it was, and she hasn't done much since. Too bad - I always thought she was a smart kid. Once again, it proved that there's a difference between 'skin' and 'talent'. Strip shows in smoky bars are cleaner than that movie was. It was an insult to our stupidity.

Just watched this and now know that I did NOT watch it! At first, it looks interesting (the dancing on the stage, I mean!) But...the ripping off of costumes does get a little strange! (HOWLED @ the butt cheeks of the men hanging out! lol!) BUT...I, now, know <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xy31wc-w9Co&feature=related" (slurp, slurp! YUCK!!) what *most* men probably sat through this movie for! I can't STAND to watch Lezbos go at it; not one bit!

Too bad the movie was such a dud! :-(

I've got both 'Showgirls' and 'Striptease' on DVDs and watching Demi in 'Striptease' I got wondering if she's ever worked as a stripper?
She seemed very good at it, and seems to know all the right moves.
Except for a routine I saw once involving ping-pong balls! But that's another story....

Did you get that email I sent about your computer problems and what do do about some of them? I tried to do a comment here about it, but it was too long and didn't get accepted. (I am a yappy little fart!)

I remember her telling [whichever talk show host] that she had had to take lessons. And...here (under "cast") is more on what she did for that role.

I didn't realize that Rob Reiner was head of Castle Rock Entertainment! And...I also didn't realize that that was her daughter in the movie, as well! The things we learn doing all this discussing and researching! :-)

"Except for a routine I saw once involving ping-pong balls! But that's another story...."

OK, Ray; I'll "take the bait" on this one! lol! "Before the Internet," there was a time when I would just collapse on the couch, at the end of the day and just watch talk show after talk show until the stations went silent (we didn't have cable.). Towards the very end of the night, I discovered Howard Stern's show! I was SHOCKED that that kind of t.v. was on! I had NEVER seen anything like it, before, so...because of the "freak show" (and "shock value" and just pure BOREDOM in my life!! lol!) nature of the show, I continued to watch and...funny enough, one of the first shows I watched was this chick who came in who had the "talent" of blowing a ping pong ball out of her YKW! So...Stern had her doing the stint of seeing what the farthest "throw" that she could do! It was...GOOFY!! So...is this the particular "routine" that you were referring to, Ray? :-D (I know; don't be *too* SHOCKED! lol! ;-)

"Did you get that email I sent about your computer problems and what do do about some of them?"

I did, thanks! I'll get back to you, shortly. :-)

"I tried to do a comment here about it, but it was too long and didn't get accepted."

I have had same happen to me. Here's what I discovered, however: so...you type out your message; I would hit "review" (checking for typos, etc.); get the message re: it being too long; click my "undo"/("back up"?) button and VOILA! The durn thing had, MIRACULOUSLY, posted DESPITE the error message! :-D So...try doing that, before "abandoning ship," next time! ;-)

"(I am a yappy little fart!)"

That's cool; I know exactly what you mean! :-D

Probably very similar. This was in one of our then-better strip joints,
and one gal did a routine with a Cookie Monster hand puppet, while laying on her back on stage, and it
involved a dialogue between her and the puppet, along with about six ping pong balls, which eventually came back out for Cookie Monster to catch! It was absolutely hilarious, and she usually got a big ovation for it.

I'm glad you got the email about your computer problems. I don't pretend to know everything about these damned things, but after I got that first old used one, and didn't know any better than phone the guys who provided my Internet Service when it crashed, that began a whole thing between me and the owner of this ISP, and he instead of telling me to call a serviceman told me to sit down at the machine and tell him what I saw. Then he'd tell me what to do, and keep asking what I saw. This would go on until we got it back to normal again. Over time, he taught me more about computers than most ordinary users ever get to know about them. Instead of being deathly afraid of the big Blue Screen of Death, I can now wipe this drive clean, re-install the Operating System, and replace my personal files, and be up and running again in about 45 minutes.
So I've come a long way since 2004.
I've also dug up a lot of freebies off the web, and some are very handy, and one - a security program from Avast - is something you might like. It's a freebie anti-virus program, and it actually talks to you when it gets its automatic updates, or when you're surfing and land on a page with something harmful on it. It works just as well as the ones you must pay for, and it does find bad stuff.

Have a look at it....

And enjoy your day!

Most 'dirty old men' are rather desperate, don't you think? And there's also a certain dysfunctionality involved, I suspect. If we all had well-rounded, fluffed-up, and functioning relationships, then we wouldn't be 'dirty old men' would we? We'd more likely be too pooped to puff. :)

I have NO CLUE on that! lol!

"And there's also a certain dysfunctionality involved, I suspect."

Possibly or an ADDICTION!!

"If we all had well-rounded, fluffed-up, and functioning relationships, then we wouldn't be 'dirty old men' would we? We'd more likely be too pooped to puff. :)"

"Fluffed-up," huh?! That's an interesting description! lol!

I think some (most?) DOM probably "enhance their experience" with things like porn and pics like those from DOMAI. I also know of dudes that have "what they need" right in front of them, in the form of a warm, 'Significant Other,' but they are rejected, in LARGE part, I believe, because they seek "outside sources" from these relationships, leaving their 'SO' with nothing! Sooo...it sounds like a vicious cycle that seems to get "out of hand"..."as it were" (as Eo likes to say! lol!), and "dysfunctional" as you wrote! But I think MOST men just can't get ENOUGH; hence, they become "gluttons" on the stuff...or so it seems but...again...I don't know! :-/

"or an Addiction..."

A gal-pal of mine and I used to spend hours on the phone, talking about our mutual personal and other problems, and during one of those much-too-long talk sessions, I mentioned reading the book "Sex for One" (The Joy of Selfloving) by Betty Dodson, Ph.D. - and gal-pal surprised me by saying "Masturbation is addictive, and really hard to stop."

The reason that took me by surprise was because she's always been a very attractive and lively little blonde who has always had her pick of the available men around, and has by her own admission had relations with dozens of them over the years, and so I'd never have suspected that she might rely on something like do-it-yourself to get satisfaction.

But I do agree with her statement that it can be addictive. That's because nobody else knows our body as well as we do, so it figures that nobody else can push as many of the right buttons.

I think it all goes back to the fact that we don't get adequate or correct instruction as youngsters about what sex is all about and how we ought to deal with it on a personal level and in a social situation as well. Too much of it
is surrounded by mystery, taboo, superstition, religious prejudice,
and just plain bullshit, and right at the time of life when we need it most, in our teens, we don't get the facts we need to deal with it at all until it's usually too late.

As a result, there are too many of us arriving "by accident" or without enough preparation or thought. So we have all these problems of break-ups, divorces,
one-parent homes, turn-key kids, delinquency, gangs, crimes, and all the other crap that begins because society hasn't adequately prepared for it own expansion - which has been running out of control for too long now.

Global Warming isn't anything mysterious - it's simply too many of us making too many kinds of pollution for Mother Earth to be able to cope with it in a natural process while maintaining a balanced system. So the system goes out of balance, and we're seeing what happens when it does.
