Bette Midler-The Rose

I was looking for a vid of Janis Joplin singing this song but...didn't find such a thing. Instead, I bring you the wonderful Bette Midler. She's got a great voice, methinks.

Not sure why I can't post pics, lately, but...here is the link of the movie, 'The Rose,' that Bette played Janis Joplin in.

I'm going to have to rent that and watch it, again, one of these days.

I have always loved this song and Bette did it wonderfully. In memory of this, I just put the movie in my Netflix queue. Haven't seen it in years...

Thanks TC

Sounds like a great idea, Tommy! I'll have to round the movie up, myself. I've always wished I could see Bette in more comedic roles. She is such a kick! And...there's 'Beaches' as well. Been so long I can barely remember either movie! :-/

I was watching this, last night, and just laughing at how vibrant and FUNNY Bette really is! And...what was even more AMAZING was that she was on w/[funny man] Robin Williams and the dude didn't interrupt her segment even once! Now, that is HIGHLY unusual, for Robin! I was wondering if he was stoned or something! Usually that dude is buzzing all over the place, interrupting everything and everyone but...he was, amazingly, subdued, that night!

And...I *so* enjoyed Bette's little piece that she wrote Johnny. What a kick! And...how SWEET and sincere her song to him was. You could see, throughout her entire segment how much she adored Johnny and...how much he admired her. Johnny choosing Bette as his last guest was the classiest ending to Johnny's career he could have picked. :-) It seems like a 100 years ago that Jay took over for him. Gaw...how time flies. :-(
