Well...first off, I'll wish you all a "Happy Valentine's Day!" only because it has become a custom from a LONG time ago, it seems! History doesn't much seem to have much to do with "romance" in correlation to this 'Saint Valentine' Dude BUT...whatever it takes to bring a little "sweetness" into the year, I'm ALL for it! I say that we need MORE of same, ALL OVER THE WORLD, so...IF you feel so inclined, SPREAD A LITTLE AROUND THE WORLD, TODAY, OK?! :-D
And...here is an article that seems to be a start to pondering the mystery around this day! Ironic that this 'Day of Love' seems to actually have been around the occurrence of this 'Saint Valentine's'...DEATH?! Oh MY!
Anyway...I have a little theory that is, um, "arising" out of an e-book and movie that I, recently, listened to and watched: IF the dude, truly, was a man from Rome, I have learned one thing about the city of Rome, from 'Eat, Pray, Love' which came from a conversation that began, while Elizabeth Gilbert was in the first third of her year-long pursuit of peace; while she was in Italy: there was a discussion about a word that could describe various cities across the globe; one being "ambition," for New York. And...the word "SEX" "arose" for Rome; so...perhaps, this was the word given to Rome, being that this was the place from whence this [fill in your research's final analysis of the dude's title!]'s story began; and...possibly how men of this particular city could capitalize on this poor dude's misfortune! So...to turn the sorrowful real story of Saint Valentine's day of death completely on it's, um, "head," the "sex" spin was suggested! Just a thought! :-D
At any rate, it has become a POSITIVE and LOVING thing so...let's not ponder its origin too much and just "roll with it, People!" shall we?! ;-)
Happy Valentine's Day, Everyone! :-D

Congratulations on making your blog easier to get onto now.
And speaking of St. Valentine, I just saw something that says he really didn't chase the snakes out of Ireland, because there's no evidence that there ever were any snakes in Ireland to begin with.
It was just 'blarney' folks...

Thanks, Ray! Even I was getting ANNOYED w/having to go through that warning label so...did away w/the "hindrance" and..."cruisin,'" now! :-D
Interesting re: this St. Valentine's stuff. I find him in Rome; you in Ireland, some 2,466 km northeast of Rome! lol!
Don't mean to sound like a "spoil sport" but...next to 'Mother's Day,' this is one of the most difficult of "special days" that some of us have to move through, in the year. :-/
Thanks for visiting. Nice to hear from you! :-)
(which reminds me: I need to get out and get some shots of those crocuses that I saw, in town, a couple of days ago! I'd better get on it, if I want to catch them; I miss them every year! :-/ )
